Formatting an SD card
- Insert the SD card into your card reader and allow it to be recognized and
mounted by Ubuntu. Make sure that the green light illuminates when the card
is inserted.
- If the SD card is already formatted:
- Just find the SD card on the left menu, right click on it and select
"format". Provide a volume label and it should reformat your SD card.
- Otherwise:
- Open Disk Utility (Super (Windows key) then type "Disk Utility")
- In the left pane select "Generic- SD/MMC"
- Under Drive: Click "Format Drive", select "Master Boot Record" as your
Scheme and click Format.
- Under Volumes: Click "Create Partition", set your size as the size of the
SD card, Type as "FAT", pick a name that is short and do not encrypt the
underlying device. Create the partition.
- You now have a formatted SD and can continue the lab.
