Formatting an SD card

1. Insert the SD card into your card reader and allow it to be recognized and mounted by Ubuntu. Make sure that the green light illuminates when the card is inserted.
2. If the SD card is already formatted:
   • Just find the SD card on the left menu, right click on it and select "format". Provide a volume label and it should reformat your SD card.
3. Otherwise:
   • Open Disk Utility (Super (Windows key) then type "Disk Utility")
   • In the left pane select "Generic- SD/MMC"
   • Under Drive: Click "Format Drive", select "Master Boot Record" as your Scheme and click Format.
   • Under Volumes: Click "Create Partition", set your size as the size of the SD card, Type as "FAT", pick a name that is short and do not encrypt the underlying device. Create the partition.
   • You now have a formatted SD and can continue the lab. DO NOT CLICK "Safe Removal"
