A Dual-Band CMOS receiver for IEEE 802.11n Wireless LAN

Victor Lee, Seyit Sis, Xiao Zhu

Abstract

Our project will be the design and simulation of a dual band receiver at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands for the application of IEEE 802.11n. The 802.11n standard has much high data throughput compared to previous standards. However, one of the tradeoffs is increased power consumption. Our design will be based on the IBM 0.13 micron CMOS process and will focus on low power and small area. We will be designing the low noise amplifier (LNA), mixer, and local oscillator (LO). We will use subthreshold devices to reduce power consumption and choose an architecture that will minimize power consumption and area.
