Late/missed assignments and make-up exams

Because of the size of the class (about 400 students in two sections) we have a very detailed set of rules for missed assignments

For homework, no late assignments will be accepted for any reason. The assignments will be due either in class or by 2pm in the course assignment drop-box. Remember you get to drop one homework assignment. If you miss more than one homework assignment due to illness or some other justifible reason you will need to contact Prof. Brehob during his office hours. You will need to bring written documentation justifying your missing these assignments.

For in-lab assignments, no late assignments will be accepted. Again, recall that two in-lab assignments will be dropped. If you miss more than two in-lab assignments due to illness or some other justifible reason you will need to contact Prof. Brehob during his office hours. You will need to bring written documentation justifying your missing these assignments.

If you should miss a quiz for any reason, your exam score on the following exam will replace your quiz score. The quizes are closed-book, closed-note. In general the expected average score on the quizes will be higher than the exams, so it is likely in your best interest to be at the quizes.

For the evening midterms, there will be a scheduled make-up exam time. In order to take that make-up exam you must either contact Wanda Dobberstein (wldobber@engin.umich.edu) 14 days before the exam with a written request (and justification) for taking the make-up exam. If the issue couldn't be foreseen (usually illness) you must bring written documentation which shows you could not have made it to the exam. A doctor's note must specify that you would have been unable to come to the exam, not just that you saw a doctor. If we don't accept your excuse for missing the regular exam you will either have to take the regular exam or take an zero for an exam score. Should something prevent you from making it to the regular exam and the make-up exam you will need to contact Prof. Brehob in office hours.

For the final exam, the same general policies of the midterms apply. Again, there will be a regular exam and scheduled make-up exam.
