About the Event

An interdisciplinary group of faculty & students studies problems in quantum information theory with a focus on quantum communication. Specific goals for the group include: (1) developing protocols for quantum cryptography, (2) estimating numerical invariants associated to quantum channels (such as channel capacity), and (3) studying the use of quantum entanglement as a communication resource. All faculty and students are welcome to attend. At the meeting on February 14th, Yaoyun Shi will give a presentation about the paper "An area law and sub-exponential algorithm for 1D systems" by I. Arad, et al. (arXiv:1301.1162)
