These and the support files below, labeled "LabX Files," are also available on CTOOLS in the Resources folder.
Homework is to be handed in at the start of class and must be your own work. You are not permitted to refer to Answer keys or answers given in previous semesters.
Here is the project document discussed in class that describes in full detail the schedule and various due dates. The contents of this document are summarized below in addition to links to downloadable files.Project teams formed on Sept 18: (.pdf) .
- Your two Pre-Project Ideas (PPI) must be entered into Ctools Forums exactly as described in the project document discussed in class. The two PPI's must be your own individual work and cannot be taken from Harris project proposals. During the PPI ranking period after the PPI is due and before the project teaming meeting you will assign ranks to your top choices, again through an electronic ranking system on Ctools Forums. These rankings will only be used to help the instructors identify the most popular projects. The final project teaming will occur during the team formation meeting, discussed below. Note: there is no guarantee that your top ranked projects will materialize.
- You must attend the project team formation meeting. This is the meeting where teams will be formed and you do not want to be left out. As in past years Harris Inc. will sponsor a project if there are a critical mass of students who wish to team on one of the following:
- Your team will prepare a written proposal following the template (.doc) and submit it (by email to Prof. Hero, Prof Wakefield and your GSI at hero, ghw, kurzerjo) by the deadline.
- Your team will make a formal proposal presentation to the class. The instructors will assign to you a time slot after you have submitted your written proposal.
- You will need to order parts for your project by the deadline but you should list all the anticipated parts in your proposal (see proposal template). Here is the Parts order form.
- Talk to Prof. Hero, Prof. Wakefield Dr. Metzger and/or the GSI about what you want and why.
- Download the form and Fill in your order.
- Upload it as a Google doc and Share the document (read/write) with Dr. Metzger, Prof. Hero, Prof. Wakefield and the GSI (metzger, hero, ghw, kurzerjo).
- Send us an e-mail including a link to the document and a brief description of what you are ordering, why, and which of us you've spoken to.
- You will meet as a team with the instructors to discuss your progress on Milestone 1 and Milestone 2.
- Your team will demonstrate your project at the Design Expo. You will be responsible for registering your demonstration at the Design Expo. Examples of Design Expo posters from Fall 2010 here , Winter 2011 here , Fall 11 here , and Winter 2012 here . The staff will print your poster on paper for you to pick up and mount on posterboard the day before the design expo (posterboard stick and glue will be provided in the lab).
- Your team will make a final project presentation at the end of the semester
- A final written project report will be due a few days after the final presentation. Your project report must be emailed to Prof. Hero, Prof. Wakefield and your GSI as a .pdf file and follow the format given in the template (.doc) .
